We are so excited to have you and your child as part of our Central family for the 2004/2005 school year! For those of you who are interested in attending or having your child attend Central, please take some time to explore our web pages to learn more about our school and email me (nsmith@opsb.net) for an appointment to visit with you and your child. Our goal is for your child to have a school year in which he/she experiences success to the highest degree possible. We truly care about your child and want this school year to be full of exciting, interesting, challenging and motivating experiences which will make this year one to be remembered. In order for us to make this year the best one possible for your child, we ask for your support in several ways: 1. Please
talk with us if you have a question or concern
2. Please look over your child's sign and return papers weekly. Congratulate your child for successes and good work and discuss problem areas. Again, please talk with us if you have a concern. 3. Please make certain your child completes homework assignments each day. The homework is given to provide additional practice on skills learned that day. Teachers post homework assignments for their students on the board each morning and many also post them on their web page. Generally speaking, your child should have 30 minutes to 1 hour a day of homework that he/she can complete independently each evening. This will vary from time to time and grade to grade. Again, please talk with us if you have a concern. 4. Read with your child each evening, even if for just 5 or 10 minutes -You read some and have your child read some. Studies show that this one thing, if done consistently, will impact student achievement more than any other single practice - AND you will find that this is a very pleasant bit of time to spend with your child.
